An icon of the area, Upper Dam area is truly a remote paddling location now available with the use of our Mothership, the “Gray Ghost”. After shoving off from Haines Landing in Oquossoc, we’ll motor 1 hour to our anchorage off Upper Dam. We will then paddle along the shores of this quiet area of the lake, including Dollar Island where there is a resident bald eagles nest, and arrive at the public landing at Upper Dam to stretch our legs, visit the out house, and watch the water rumble through the sluice of the newly constructed Upper Dam into the famous fishing pool below. Upon re-boarding our kayaks we’ll then head back to the “Gray Ghost”. Once onboard, you’ll be able to enjoy lunch (provided by you) while the kayaks are loaded then we’ll return to Haines Landing.
Note: Mooselookmeguntic Lake can get rough and you can expect to get wet from bow spray on the transit to and from the anchorage site.
