A trip that offers more history than our typical paddle, we’ll depart Haines Landing in Oquossoc for a 30-minute cruise to our anchorage near the famous Indian Rock in Cupsuptic Lake. From here we will paddle past the Oquossoc Angling Association and Indian Rock while I’ll explain the history of these two landmarks. We’ll then continue into the outlets of the spectacular Rangeley and Kennebago Rivers where they empty into Cupsuptic Lake. This is an excellent area for waterfowl and eagle (and maybe a moose) sighting. Then out to the lake for a good stretch along the lakeshore, we’ll pass The Ledges, and proceeding to Brown’s Island. We’ll enjoy the beautiful channels of Brown’s and Blueberry Islands, viewing Moonahanis Lodge and then head to the west shore of Cupsuptic Lake for Raven Campsite where we will stretch our legs and enjoy a snack. After re-boarding, we’ll paddle towards Eagle Point and Senator Frye’s log camp before heading back to the “Gray Ghost”. Once aboard, you’ll be able to enjoy lunch (provided by you) while the kayaks are loaded. We will then return to Haines Landing.
